Caboose!

Twenty-two feet and five cute bunny fur trimmings later, and we reach the end of this horrendous smudge on the human record.

Windows 2000 (and integrated IIS) make it easy-peasy to migrate a website from an NT 4 server.

It would be easier if it were Apache on Linux, but, oh well...

Excerpt

N : I've got a crazy idea for a party.

E : A slumber party?

N : No, but you're not too far off. It won't involve a lot of sleeping, though.

E : An orgy?

N : stunned silence, then head-shaking laughter No, not an orgy!

E : But don't you love how my mind works?

Da McBroom E Show

Okay, so it's been awhile. Alright, so it's been more than "awhile", it's been quite awhile. Eons, even. Centuries. Generations of weblogs have been spawned and died since I last deigned to post here.

Whatever. It's my website.

Busy last few months. I've gone back to school, where I'm taking classes to further my goal of finishing my anthropology degree. I absolutely love being back in school. I've wanted to do this for so long, and to actually be there, now, is almost indescribable.

I'm happy as a fucking clam.

Are clams truly happy?

Things have changed a bit at le Chateau Niceswanger/McBroom, too. As posted here a few months ago, Hamlet, the patriarch of my little basement animal farm, passed away after a lengthy life in which we can safely say he had sex at least twice. Puck, Dwarf Siberian hamster extraordinaire, died of old age as well. Alpha, the sole aquarium-dweller of the house (you have to know that he was a Betta splendens to get the geek-joke that is his name) died as well.

The Guinea pig population in our basement hit 12, but after Hamlet's death and finding homes for 6 others, we're down to 5 piggies.

And our newest addition to the animal farm: Nibbler.

Nibbler is a black silver fox rabbit, of unknown age, that I adopted from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa a few weeks ago. The description (both on the website and on his cage at the adoption center) indicated that he was rather depressed, and would require a home where he would be given space and lots of love.

Was there really any question that I'd want to adopt him, especially after reading that?

Even stoic ol' Nate likes him, although that may stem more from that fact that having him around has really been very good for me.

Though I didn't name him, I was reminded of an episode of Futurama that Nate & I saw several months ago, in which Leela took in a strange-looking little creature that had a tendency to eat everything around him, and dubbed him "Nibbler". He was so adorable that I told Nate that the next pet I was getting would be named "Nibbler", too.

It took a couple months, but now I have a Nibbler of my very own.
