Some thoughts on national security
Wherein "national security" equals "the things that the two occupants of 1508 must do to maintain order and peace".The Boy hardly ever gets sick. When he does, it's occasion for much pampering and coddling, and for many refills of orange juice and chicken noodle soup. It's also occasion for piles of pillows on the couch, and the generous gift of my warm, soft, snuggly kitty-cat blanket to cover his hot, ahem, body.
This time, it's stomach-related. Not of the uber-squicky spray-deodorant-cover-up kind, but instead the nausea and constant queasiness that require with many minty shots of hot-pink Pepto Bismal.
Sick as he is, Stupidhead won't take a day off.
Nothing like myself, she who got a week off work in September because she couldn't breath through the buckets of phlegm that wouldn't vacate her lungs.
I hope he recovers soon, because I worry that I'm not good enough at acting the caretaker when he's unwell. And I hate to see him suffer, even if I know it's only a short-term sufferage. Poor, sick bud. Poor sick bud who refuses to take a day off.
If he's feeling better by this weekend, it's off for a whole new set of familial obligation/visitation, and another record show, this one in Omaha. If he's *not* feeling better, he's going to find himself scowled at hourly for being foolhardy enough to go ahead with the visiting as well as the record show, and I fully reserve the right to drag out the "I told you so"s that he will be so obviously deserving.
It may be four years, but you're still a stupidhead, sweetiepie. At least you're *my* stupidhead.

Home again?
We made it back, a couple hours ago, from our anniversary trip. I took Nate to Saint Joseph, Missouri, a town of about 5,000 people near the northwest corner of the state. The hotel we spent our three day weekend at gave us a small suite, with a sitting room and a king-size bed which saw much cuddling during our stay. We did lots of shopping, and many high-calorie meals were consumed.
And a good time was had by all.
