Cardinal sins?

I am not a Catholic. In fact, in my opinion, there are few religions as distasteful and hypocritical as Catholicism (Mormonism comes close, however). Catholicism is a cult, plain and simple. A cult that has recruited over one billion adherents (the Mormons have a paltry 12 million plus members, comparatively). Need more proof that it's a cult?

A cult is defined as a group possessing of all five of the following characteristics:

• 1. Using psychological coercion to recruit, indoctrinate, and retain its members.

How about the vehicle of guilt/confession? That qualifies as coercion.


• 2. It forms an elitist totalitarian society.

Well, Catholicism certainly doesn't encourage differing opinions from those of Holy Mother Church. And elitist? Women can't become priests, and are tantamount to servants and chattel in a great deal of the Church's teachings. Neither are homosexuals welcome to the fold of Catholicism (at least the version the Vatican serves).


• 3. Its founder/leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable, and has charisma.

Um - conduit to God, anyone?


• 4. It believes "the end justifies the means" in order to solicit funds and recruit people.

Uh, Inquisition, anyone?


• 5. Its wealth does not benefit its members or society.

That one goes without further explanation.

Anyway, the thing that started this whole rant (that got more than a little long-winded), was the fact that the Papacy seems to be purely evil. The new Pope, elected only today, apparently was a member of the Hitler Youth. And the newly-dead Pope was a salesman for a chemical company in Poland that supplied concentration camps with the gases from the "showers".

Right now, I'm ranting like a conspiracy freak with a Blogspot site, but this fucking *scares* me. These are powerful, influential people, with more than 1,000,000,000 supporters behind them, as well as monetary backing. They carry some *serious* heft in the world. And they're fucking loony bastards.

Anyway.

Has anyone noticed that Blogspot and LiveJournal have become the new Geocities?
